Dear friend,
We learned today that the Democratic National Committee has delayed their convention by one month to August 17, 2020. We applaud the DNC for prioritizing public safety while simultaneously keeping their commitment to Milwaukee. Hosting the Democratic National Convention in August will be key to the city's economic recovery once the cloud of COVID-19 has lifted.
In additional news today, the Wisconsin Center District Board voted and approved the future expansion of the Wisconsin Center. In this expansion, the Wisconsin Center will nearly double in size, adding over 100,000 square feet in contiguous exhibit space, a rooftop ballroom with expansive views, and 24 additional meeting rooms. This means VISIT Milwaukee will be able to book multiple events in the convention center, hold larger events, and bring in new meetings that had previously not considered Milwaukee because of our size. In short, an expanded center will create new revenue streams for our community and a stronger tourism economy. You can learn more about the expansion at the WCD's dedicated website, www.buildingmore.com.
Thank you for your continued support. Rest assured we will be in regular communication as updates on either the DNC or the WCD expansion happen.
Be well, stay safe.
