Upcoming Volunteer Needs & Updates

  • With everything hopping and popping in MKE, we're adding new volunteer shifts regularly, especially at the convention center kiosk. Please check in as often as you can to see what's new: https://volunteer.milwaukee.org/need/.
  • If you're a new volunteer or even experienced, join us for the upcoming Volunteer Orientation & Refresher at our office on May 18th. Sign up here.
  • We kicked off National Travel & Tourism Week, May 1-7, when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for our economy, businesses, community, and personal wellbeing.
  • Our monthly webinar included first-quarter updates as well as looking forward to the remainder of this year.  If you didn't make it, you can always watch it at your convenience. You can find all of our webinars here.
  • If you have any questions about the RNC or any other convention, I welcome a conversation anytime. To stay up to date with the groups in town booked by VISIT Milwaukee, you can always learn more here.

Partner Updates
Exciting news from our partner businesses.

  • Accelerate Indoor Speedway in Waukesha officially opens to the public on Wednesday, May 11 and 50% of profits from all admissions on that day will be donated to UPAF. Accelerate features high speed indoor go karts, axe throwing, and virtual reality studios!
  • Congratulations to Jermaine Murry, MS, who joins Milwaukee Repertory Theater as chief diversity officer, focusing on equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) strategies, engagement and communications. This is important work that I'm glad to see The Rep continue as a leading voice in Wisconsin's performing arts community.
  • Additional congrats are owed to Karen Bell on the grand opening of the new location for Bavettte today! You can find this Third Ward favorite at 217 N. Broadway.
  • Congrats to our partner Cynthia Henry at Ayzha Fine Arts Gallery for being named a 2022 Friend of the Arts by the City of Milwaukee Arts Board. These honorees recognize and celebrate excellence and exceptional service in Milwaukee's arts community.
  • Did you know that Harry Houdini spent four years of his life in Milwaukee? Our partner Glen Gerard worked with Adam Levin on this interesting story about his time here in the Shepherd Express.
  • It's that time again! The Brewery District announced this week that they will be launching a farmers market this summer.
  • Prepare the strollers or make this your Thursday lunch plan: Kohl's Thank You Thursday is back at the Milwaukee Public Museum on Thursday, May 5.
