Top 10 Places to Travel in 2020
Another great national hit coming in from our communications team - Wall Street Journal has named Milwaukee one of the Top 10 Places to Travel in 2020 - Before Everyone Else Does (subscriber access). WSJ has identified these as buzz-worthy destinations travelers should have on their list.
36 Hours in Milwaukee
Milwaukee also made the news in a big way, with the New York Times releasing 36 Hours in Milwaukee. This installment in NYT's famous travel series featured everything from bobbleheads to beer barons in a packed 36 hour itinerary alongside photos from local photographer Kevin Miyazaki. We're excited to see so many great Milwaukee attractions and businesses included in this national feature.
Iconic Sights & Jewish Delights
Milwaukee is the featured destination in the newest The Jewish Traveler feature for Hadassah Magazine. Our communications team hosted the Jersualem-based travel writer on her visit to Milwaukee, exploring our local sights like the Chudnow Museum and Seven-Seat Bicycle Tour with an eye to celebrating Jewish Milwaukeeans past and present contributions to our city in the arts, business, and culture.

There are a lot of great changes coming to Milwaukee Mitchell Airport, and the airport has a new campaign to encourage locals to fly MKE. "Choose MKE" highlights the travel benefits as well as the positive impact supporting your hometown airport has on Milwaukee's flight offerings. Check out the videos and share with your networks and guests to remind them to fly local!
DNC 2020 Leadership Structure
Last week, the DNC Host Committee announced the 21 civic and business leaders who will serve on the committee and represent their constituencies and industries in the lead-up to the convention. Mayor Tom Barrett and Representative Gwen Moore will serve as co-chairs of the committee - check out the full list here.
VISIT Milwaukee News
As you may already know, VISIT Milwaukee has named Peggy Williams-Smith as our new President & CEO effective November 18. Williams-Smith is a lifelong Milwaukeean with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry with Marcus Hotels & Resorts. We're so excited to have her leading the team into the next decade!

This week it was announced that Marco Bloemendaal, senior vice president of sales for VISIT Milwaukee, is leaving the organization. He will be missed.
Marco's efforts around the DNC cannot be understated. Together with his team (including volunteers who made hundreds of calls), Marco was instrumental in securing the over 16,000 hotel rooms needed as part of the RFP, which was a vital part of Milwaukee winning the bid.
Please join us in wishing Marco the best in his next opportunity as global vice president of sales for the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). Headquartered in Chicago, this will allow him to be closer to family and is a logical next step for his outstanding career.
